Read Better Be Better (RBBB) seeks an exceptional HR & Recruiting Coordinator for a full-time position.  RBBB's new team member will help create, implement, and evaluate all HR department initiatives, policies, procedures, and systems.  Responsibilities include recruitment, onboarding/off-boarding, payroll, benefits programs, and administration of employee records.

Job Title: HR & Recruiting Coordinator

Reports To: Operations Director                  

Supervisory Responsibility:  None

Work Hours:  Mon -Fri, 8:00 am 5:00 pm

FLSA Status:  Exempt

Salary: $36,000 - $45,000

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Helps develop efficient and effective recruitment and hiring methods and strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various departments regarding their hiring needs, with a strong focus on Program Team hiring.
  • Manage the recruitment, screening, and interview process.
  • Build relationships and establish partnerships with a variety of recruiting and job posting sources.
  • Assist the Program Team with workforce development strategies among current/former program participants.
  • Responsible for onboarding and off-boarding procedures.
  • Ensure all employee records are maintained and updated as needed.
  • Perform and maintain payroll processing functions and employee benefit programs.
  • Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries and action in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for reporting on general HR activity.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, company policies, and recommend best practices.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

  • Ability to conduct themselves in accordance with the Read Better Be Better organization, vision, mission, and values.
  • Ability to be pro-active and independent with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to organize and manage large amounts of tasks, schedules, and information.
  • Fundamental understanding of various software, including but not limited to Office 365 and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable speaking to small/medium-sized groups.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to recruitment, hiring, payroll, and benefits.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE  

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE   

  • Degree (or 2-3 years of equivalent experience) in Human Resources, Business or Public Administration or related field.
  • Prior experience working in an HR department.
  • SHRM membership or certification
  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems and Timekeeping & Payroll Processing Software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

This position operates in a professional and entrepreneurial office environment.  Internal and External meetings may be held in various locations, such as schools, universities, partners, etc.

COVID-19 CONSIDERATIONS:

The health and safety of our colleagues and their families, as well as our clients, potential candidates, and the communities we serve, are of the utmost importance.  Due to the COVID-19 situation, this role will temporarily be performed remotely from home with limited in-office activity and will transition back to RBBB offices when restrictions and safety guidelines permit.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift/pull material carts up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment. 
  • Must be able to travel locally

Read Better Be Better (RBBB) is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 to address Arizona's literacy crisis. Read Better Be Better inspires and equips middle school youth leaders to help third-grade students struggling with reading comprehension. The program trains 6th-8th graders to lead 3rd graders through a curriculum that empowers both students. Third graders gain the literacy skills needed to achieve academic and life-long success, and middle schoolers engage in service-learning. RBBB's organizational values are simple: Be Excellent.
