Do you want to help solve Arizona's literacy crisis? Gain valuable teaching and mentoring experience while facilitating our unique program.  

RBBB's after-school reading comprehension program offers community members the opportunity and training to impact our education system by helping to build literacy and leadership skills in students across the Phoenix metro area. We are currently seeking bilingual English and Spanish speakers to facilitate weekly check-ins with families enrolled in our virtual literacy program, Read Better Be Better At Home.

As a RBBB Site Leader, you will work directly with families to provide guidance on program implementation, track student progress, and conduct weekly check-ins. This is a fully remote position with the opportunity to transition into an after-school on-site role once the traditional Read Better Be Better program resumes. 

We are seeking applicants with strong computer and technology skills, including knowledge of applications used for video conferencing and other business functions. Fluency in both Spanish and English is required. Only applicants residing in the Phoenix metropolitan area will be considered.

About Read Better Be Better

Read Better Be Better (RBBB) is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 to address Arizona's literacy crisis. Read Better Be Better inspires and equips middle school youth leaders to help third-grade students struggling with reading comprehension. The program trains 6th-8th graders to lead 3rd graders through a curriculum that empowers both students. Third graders gain the literacy skills needed to achieve academic and life-long success, and middle schoolers engage in service learning. RBBB's organizational values are simple: Be Excellent. Job Title: Site Leader 

Reports To: District Leader 

Work Hours: 5-25 hours per week

Pay: $13.00 per hour, with a $0.50-per-hour increase each semester capping at $15.00 per hour 

Supervisory Responsibility: None 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 


The Site Leader will assist with the implementation of the RBBB At Home program and work with their respective District Leader to ensure program quality throughout the semester. The Site Leader will be responsible for training families on implementing the program at home, checking in with families weekly via phone calls, communicating program successes and challenges to their District Leader, and maintaining data on student progress.


  • Participate in virtual RBBB Orientation and Site Leader Training(s) prior to working as a Site Leader
  • Train caregivers and students on the RBBB program as needed
  • Call caregivers weekly to monitor student progress, as well as challenges and successes of at-home program implementation
  • Log information from caregiver calls in Salesforce
  • Encourage student participation to enhance student experience
  • Ensure that all RBBB procedures and program structure is being followed
  • Effectively communicate program successes and challenges to District Leader
  • Have the opportunity to distribute program materials to families at partner school sites as needed
  • Participate in weekly virtual district team meetings and all-team mandatory meetings 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned that are required of the employee in this job


  • Bilingual fluency in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to conduct themselves in accordance with the Read Better Be Better organization, vision, mission and values
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students and their families
  • Strong computer and technology skills, including knowledge of email and applications used for video conferencing, program attendance and payroll
  • Ability to motivate individual students and families to implement the program in a home setting
  • Ability to work independently without any direct supervision 
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional demeanor
  • Willingness to seek opportunities to develop and grow the Read Better Be Better vision and mission within the community when possible
  • Commitment to maintaining consistent communication with families during a set weekly schedule

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (RBBB will pay the application fee)


  • Enrollment in relevant degree program preferred (i.e. teaching, educational studies, youth & early childhood development, social justice) 
  • Experience working with children in any capacity preferred


  • This position operates in a temporarily remote capacity, with the hope of transitioning remote employees into working on-site with our partner schools when program resumes on-site
  • Quiet setting required for taking RBBB-related calls and implementing program activities, including video conferencing


  • Ability to operate tablets, computers, and standard office equipment 
  • Must be comfortable making phone calls, initiating and facilitating video conferencing, and using mobile apps for essential job functions


  • Travel to school sites to distribute program materials to families as needed
